Tips for safe shopping

Reshopper should be an easy, fast, and safe place to shop. Here are our tips to ensure this.

  • Be critical if the seller only wants to communicate and trade outside of Reshopper - scammers use this tactic to phish.
  • If the item needs shipping, always use Reshopper Shipping for an easy and safe process!
  • If something seems too good to be true, it might be. In this case, try to arrange a personal pickup of the item.
  • Be critical if the seller only wants to be paid by transferring money before shipping.
  • Ask the seller to take pictures of the item themselves, if the listing only contains pictures taken from an online webshop.
  • Check the seller's profile. How old is it? You can check this in the user's shop. Be skeptical about new users with no real picture of themselves or with a name that sounds made up.
  • If you suspect any fraud, please report the shop to us by opening the shop and tapping the "..." button, and choosing "Report shop".

Ask questions

If there are things about an item that are important to you, make sure to ask about it before you buy. It is especially important when getting items shipped, as you aren't able to assess the item on forehand. If it is not visible on the images you could ask about the item's condition - are there any stains, loose threads, or fluff, or whether the item is washed in hypoallergenic detergent, comes from a smoke / animal-free home and other questions, you find relevant.

Be considerate

Reshopper is made for families with children, so they can sell their children's used items. In many cases, the value of the used item is relatively low, and therefore the seller's profit will in many cases be relatively small. Many sellers use Reshopper to get their children's used items back in circulation instead of just throwing them out. This is a great idea in itself, and good for the environment and you as a buyer, as you will get a cheaper price and support the circulative consumerism. It is therefore important to be a considerate buyer and to not take more of the seller's time than necessary.

When you make an offer

Many Reshoppers put a fixed price on their items, and often it is set low. If the item is priced reasonably, please consider whether it is worth making a lower offer. Please also respect when the seller has put a fixed price and thus does not want a lower bid.

If you want items shipped

Reshopper was created back in 2012 on the basis that all trading should happen locally. Over time this has been adjusted to Reshopper now offering the ability to search within the entire country. Despite this, many sellers on Reshopper still prefer not to ship packages. This is indicated on each item. If you do find an item that needs shipping, you should be aware, that by default, shipping will be paid for by the buyer. To avoid receiving items that don't meet your expectations, be sure to ask for the item's condition, color, wear and tear, etc. before buying.

Respect other's time

Most families with children are busy with lots to do and you probably are too. Therefore always seek to respect agreements you've made with sellers and if you need to postpone a pickup, make sure the seller knows as soon as possible.
